Martins returns after nose surgery

Obafemi Martins

Seattle Sounders marksman Obafemi Martins is in contention to face FC Dallas this coming weekend having resumed training with his Major League Soccer club on Tuesday.
The Nigeria international sat out last weekend’s clash with Sporting KC as the game came too soon after having surgery to fix a broken nose, an injury he picked up after colliding with Clint Irwin.

During yesterday’s practice session, Martins did not give away any sign of suffering from the ailment that had kept him away from the pitch for about a week.
But Seattle Sounders medics will continue to closely monitor the Nigerian’s condition all through the week before deciding whether or not to give him the all – clear to feature on Sunday against Dallas.

Obafemi Martins could be wearing a protective face mask if he gets selected for the contest at CenturyLink Field.
In 10 appearances in the MLS this term, Martins has notched up six goals, including a brace in Seattle Sounders 3 – 1 victory over New York City on May 4.
