As Nigerian film makers try to settle down after the lull created by
last elections, another platform that will further enrich the industry,
the Pan African Film Festival, is set to hold its maiden edition in
Nigeria.
According to the President of the outfit otherwise called the
PAFF-AFRICAN series, it will provide an opportunity for young African
filmmakers and new talents to interact with the best of Black filmmakers
around the world, and also open room for co-productions.
Babu says it will also be a vehicle to showcase the works of the best of African filmmakers, actors and writers.
He says, “It is a new day and we are delighted to take our brand to
Africa. African cinema is refreshing to world cinema because of the
stories and talents that abound on the continent, with the Nigerian and
South African film industries leading the pack.”
He adds that the African representatives include Miss Deborah Mangut
and film maker Pascal Atuma, as well as veteran actor Richard
Mofe-Damijo.
Atuma
is also quoted as saying, “We need PAFF in Africa so that the people
can see, feel and touch the growth of the industry and also have a
first-class platform to showcase their talents to an international
audience. We are very grateful to Mr. Babu and the entire PAFF-Los
Angeles for opening their doors and bringing this wonderful brand to
Africa. It can’t get better than this. It is a beautiful day for the
entire African cinema.”
